Strong Families Parenting Class is a training program for parents and other caregivers provided by Comprehensive Healthcare. The class consists of 13, three-hour sessions that focus on strengthening families and communities. At our free classes you can meet other parents, get support and encouragement from certified facilitators, and try new approaches to family interactions.
All parents want the best for their children. This program is designed to increase family strengths, build parenting skills, improve family bonding, and reduce risk factors for violence and substance use in participating families. We support parents by enhancing their present skills and providing them with additional tools that work in the world today.
Among the topics covered in the class are: modeling positive parent behavior, improving children’s self-esteem, learning anger and stress management, and emphasizing positive discipline. Parents are supported in practicing new skills between class sessions.
