Comprehensive Healthcare is the recipient of a $7,500 grant from the Yakima Valley Community Foundation to partially fund three additional Strong Families classes in Yakima County. Strong Families is designed to support families by promoting healthy parenting skills, as well as preventing drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, child abuse or neglect, gang membership, and other challenging issues families may face.
The free classes are held over seven weeks in 13 sessions, and are taught in both English and Spanish. The program has been recognized internationally for its innovative and comprehensive approach to developing parenting skills across cultures and ethnic groups.
Comprehensive Vice President Paul Nagle-McNaughton commented on receiving the grant, "We have provided parenting classes to over 1,400 parents and caregivers since 1998. The Yakima Valley Community Foundation Grant allows us to expand and strengthen this truly community-wide partnership.
Yakima Valley Community Foundation has awarded grants in the Yakima Valley since 2004. Their mission is the connect people, resources, and ideas for thriving communities and vibrant places.
